We are a collective of diverse creative humans committed to creating media that makes a difference.
OUR FOUNDERS’ STORY and VISION
Patricia Alvarado Núñez and Alan Catello Grazioso have been collaborating since 2000. At the start, Patricia and Alan co-produced a series of segments for the PBS Kids series ZOOM in Panamá, Canada, Italy, and across the United States. The series went on to win a Daytime Emmy® in 2006. Since then, their collaboration has evolved into Studio 21, a creative media studio that incubates innovative, visually driven, mission-based media for small and large screens. The studio experiments with storytelling through video, audio, 2D and 3D animation, photography, and emerging technologies.
Studio 21 is Patricia and Alan’s vision of bringing together global talent they’ve discovered over the years, while embedding multicultural perspectives into every idea and project the collective develops or consults on. Alan serves as head of creative, with expertise in multimedia development, client relations, animation production, post-production, and innovation. Patricia is CEO and oversees content development and production for digital, social, and broadcast platforms. Together, they serve as executive producers on projects they lead.
Their portfolio reflects a truly global perspective: Patricia and Alan have traveled to 35 countries, filmed in more than 320 locations across five continents, and led international creative teams producing cross-cultural and multilingual content for top-tier organizations, including Oxfam International, WGBH Educational Foundation, Travel Channel, and Harvard University. They have delivered projects in more than ten languages.
Studio 21 is the proud creator of Dimples the Whale™, a purpose-driven children’s brand inspired by a real-life whale rescue Patricia and Alan participated in. As a one-for-one social good brand, every Dimples the Whale purchase removes at least one pound of ocean plastics and debris from the sea. The brand blends storytelling, conservation, and social impact—extending Studio 21’s mission of using media to make a difference.
Over the past two decades, Patricia and Alan have forged partnerships with television networks, production teams, publishers, higher education institutions, NGOs, government agencies, corporations, and leading brands. Their work has been broadcast on HBO, PBS, CBS, ESPN, National Geographic, AJ+, and the History Channel, and has earned multiple honors including an Imagen Award, two Webbys, two Tellys, two Golden Eagles, and six Emmys. Some of their content has even gone viral, reaching more than six million YouTube views (twice).
As Patricia says, “Studio 21 creates mission-based multimedia that makes a difference.”
